You will be able to put it on auto to get the same results that you would get from your point and shoot, but you will also have all your options of manual control of aperture and shutter speed to play with for special situations. Depends on what vehicle you are working with. Some headers bolt directly to the factory pipe, others require pipe modification. Pipe mods are best left to a shop in my experiance. If you do this yourself you want to use alot of penatraing oil on the exhaust bolts hours if not days in advance. You twist one of these of and it will ruin your day gauranteed.

It sounds like your using a width setting that is too narrow for the piece you are sewing. You need to compensate for thicker fabric by increasing the space between your stitches. Otherwise, it may still be a tension issue with either the bobbin or your main thread feed from the top. I had a machine awhile back that refused to give me proper tension and would do that to me all the time. Good luck.

Try a little bit of paint polish, or a cleaner wax if you have some. Have you tried something like WD40? Goo Gone? Bug and Tar Remover? Shouldn’t be hard to do. Don’t use anything too aggressive but try a couple things, it should come right off.
